In the Rain

In one July after liberation, the opening ceremony of a park for the people, Moranbong Pleasure Park, was to be held in Pyongyang, the capital of revolution. That day it was raining from the early morning. The official who was supposed to deliver a congratulatory address at the ceremony was hesitating over the bad weather before finally he made haste to prepare himself to go to the park as it was time to leave. It was some minutes after noon. When the official was about to leave his office, President Kim Il Sung summoned him to say that he would accompany him to the ceremony. Looking at the window streaming with rainwater, he hesitated for a few moments and told the President that they would go there by themselves because of the rain. The President folded the documents on the table, rose from the seat, and declined his proposal. Insisting on going there to see the people happy, he headed for the ceremony in the van. Following the President, the official was feeling himself charged with a strong emotion. That day the President took pleasure in sharing joy with the people even in the constant rain. Looking up at him respectfully, the people were moved to tears with deep gratitude for him.

Story of Underground Pyongyang

All the Pyongyang citizens enjoy traveling on the Pyongyang Metro all day all year round. The Pyongyang Metro is associated with the world of love of President Kim Il Sung, who devoted his whole life to the people. The President personally planned the construction of the subway and clearly indicated the orientation and ways for carrying it into practice. In addition, he led the whole course of the project step by step. In order to provide our people with a more civilized and cultured life as early as possible, the President made a ceaseless journey to the dangerous muddy construction site and even went down deep into the working face to solve every problem arising in the project. Feeling so sorry for the people waiting in bus queues in the cold weather, he kept himself at the construction site skipping his meals and spent nights setting right the subway lines for the convenience of the people. Thanks to the wise guidance of the President, the construction of the Pyongyang Metro, which was said to be impossible without the technical and material help of foreign countries, was finally completed by our own efforts.

One early morning in April, 2001, Chairman Kim Jong Il visited a fish farm. Every fish pond of the large fish farm in tiers in a cosy valley was teeming with rainbow trout. Seeing the neatly-built fish ponds and the spectacular scenery of the cosy fish farm like a park, the Chairman had a smile of pleasure in his eyes. Then, he expressed great pleasure over the fact that the sure prospect for gratifying the wish of President Kim Il Sung, who had been so solicitous about providing our people with plenty of more kinds of fish, was opened up. When one of the officials told him that they had supplied some rainbow trout to the people on the occasion of the Day of the Sun, the Chairman was so glad that he highly appreciated their good job. Then, the Chairman smiled a broad smile, saying that it was the happiest news he had ever heard.

Trivial, Yet Significant

It was one day decades ago. That day Chairman Kim Jong Il was giving an official precious instructions on the development of the country’s postal service when suddenly he asked what prevented the production of envelopes for people. At that time, the officials thought it would cause no problems as people could make things like envelopes by themselves. Learning about this, the Chairman told him in a solicitous tone that the failure to maintain the supply of envelopes would cause considerable inconvenience to our people as they each would bother to make them whenever necessary. He explained to the conscience-stricken official that the envelopes would not certainly need much paper and, even if they would, we should spare nothing as it was for the good of our people. Then, he emphasized that the addition of stamps and illustrations on the envelopes and the supply of postcards in various formats along with them would provide the people with more convenience as well as beautiful aesthetic sentiments.

Significant Photo Session with Mothers

The women who attended the Fifth National Meeting of Mothers held in December, 2023, have a precious memory. It is a historical moment when they were honored to have a significant photo taken in the presence of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un. Looking up to the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un, all the participants in the conference were full of great excitement and gratitude as he bestowed all affection and benevolence on them repeatedly although they only fulfilled their due responsibility and duty of motherhood for their families and society. He had a significant photo session with them, wishing health and happiness to all the mothers who had displayed the mental and moral traits of the Korean women best in the world while invariably taking the road of devotion for their families and younger generation and for the prosperity and development of the country, cherishing deep in mind the dearest and sacred call, mother.

To Resuscitate a Scientist

One day in March, 2017, an aged scholar at Kim Chaek University of Technology (KUT) who had been dedicating his whole life to scientific research fell into a critical state because of an attack of brain hemorrhage while staying at a factory for his scientific research work. Upon receipt of the report on this, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un immediately saw to it that an excellent medical team from a central hospital was sent to the site by means of a military helicopter, saying that we should not hesitate even a moment for the issues concerning the lives of scientists and technicians as they are valuable assets our Party values and loves most. In addition, when the helicopter with the medical team was getting near Hamhung, he made sure that it reached the site as soon as possible for intense first-aid treatment and personally made the treatment plan of sending the patient to the central hospital by helicopter as soon as he got a little better. When he heard the report that the helicopter with the patient arrived in Pyongyang the next day, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un emphasized to revive the life of the researcher of KUT at any cost. Saying that necessary medicine and competent doctors should be sent to the hospital and a sincere consultation should be held to save his life, he personally guided the medical team’s treatment several times on that single day alone. Having never met before, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un valued an unknown scientist who had dedicated his life to scientific research work to implement the instructions of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il so highly that he sent a lot of precious medicine and dispatched several officials of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the Cabinet. Indeed, the benevolence of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un was that of a beloved father found nowhere else in the world. Eventually, the scientist, who had already stepped over the threshold into the hell, was miraculously recovered by the great love of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.
